Laci Scott Interview
Miss Oklahoma USA 2005 & top 10 @ Miss USA 2005
Why did you decide to participate in the Miss Oklahoma USA pageant?
I was shopping for a prom dress when the store owner told me about the pageant and said I should do it. I had never seen or watched a pageant before so I really didn’t give it much thought. I decided to do it because a good friend of mine was doing it and I thought it would be a fun experience to go through together!
What was going through your head when you were announced as the winner of Miss Oklahoma USA?
Pure shock! I don’t even think I quite realized that I had won after they announced it. It wasn’t until they were throwing the crown and sash over me and it was only the new Teen and myself onstage for our walk that I knew what was going on! It was pretty exciting!
What was your most memorable experience at Miss USA 2005?
Its pretty hard to narrow it down to just one, because everyday was something new and exciting! If I had to, I would have to go with the telecast night. Just to be a part of a live telecast Miss USA Pageant was pretty unreal! The excitement of the crowd, all the cameras, my heart racing and all the butterflies in my tummy is something I’ll never forget. Everytime I watch Miss USA on TV now, I get that same feeling inside that I had when I was there and know what all the girls out there are feeling. It's pretty neat!
What was going through your head when you were announced in the top 15 and in the top 10 at MissUSA?
So many things! Shock, excitement, nervousness knowing I was about to be wearing a swimsuit on national TV!! Ha! It was an amazing feeling, and such an honor to have made it to the top 10.
Who would be your role model and why?
Without a doubt my mother! She been through and overcome so much in her life. Through it all she has stayed very strong and remained such a wonderful mother. If I am even half the mother someday that she was to me, then I know I will be a great one!
What have you been up to since you passed on your crown?
After I gave my crown away I started modeling. I traveled to a couple places internationally, then moved out to NY for a while to work in that market. I am currently living in OK again, but still flying back and forth to NY for work. I am now trying to decide where I am going to go next, either Los Angeles or maybe Miami! I love traveling to new places!
