Katya Feinstein Interview
Miss Utah Teen USA 2008 + Miss Utah USA 2010
*interview was done prior to Kate becoming Miss UT USA.
Why did you decide to participate in the Miss Utah Teen USA pageant?
I got a postcard in the mail that told me to try the pageant. I had just quit cheerleading the year before and I thought it would be something fun to try!
What was going through your head when your name was not announced as the 1st runner up?
I was totally shocked. I had no idea I was going to win! It was my first pageant, I had no idea what I was doing! But it felt really good, this is definitely one of my greatest accomplishments J
You will be competing in the Miss Teen USA pageant in a matter of weeks, what are you most looking forward to at Miss Teen USA?
I’m looking forward to EVERYTHING! I’ve never been to the Bahamas, so that will be way cool. Seeing the girls again! And competing!!! I can’t wait!
What do you think your duties are as Miss Utah Teen USA?
I would say that one of my main duties is to represent Utah as a good role model, especially for teens. Everywhere I go, I do my best to set a good example. I also go to a bunch of events in Utah, we’ve worked with the American Cancer Society, John Huntsman Cancer Foundation, Women Against MS, Utah Animal Adoption/Humane Society. And more! I usually attend those with Miss Utah USA, Julia Bachison. It’s a great way for us to become closer to the community and show them that we care and want to support their causes.
Who would be your role model and why?
My role model is Miss Utah USA 2008, Julia Bachison. We’ve become so close throughout our reign together! She’s like my sister now and I admire her very much. I love her fun spirit and her positive attitude! She’s always looking up and is ready for anything.
Who would be your favorite pageant winner and why?
Probably Chelsea Cooley. I met her at a leadership seminar she was holding in Georgia and I learned a lot from her! She had a very fulfilling year as Miss USA.
