Katy Lambert Interview
Miss Wyoming Teen USA 2006
Why did you decide to compete in the Miss Wyoming Teen USA pageant?
It was kind of a spur of the moment type thing! A friend competed the previous year and convinced me that I would have fun and enjoy it. As it turned out it was a great experience.
What was going through your head when you realized you were the new Miss Wyoming Teen USA?
I was in shock! When I made into the first round and then the second, I was stunned. And then to be one of the last two standing was unreal! When I didn’t hear my name called I couldn’t believe it, I was so excited!!
What would be your most memorable moment at Miss Teen USA?
I can’t pinpoint just one, because it was an absolutely amazing time! Everybody I met and all the things I got to do were memorable and something I’ll never forget! It was the greatest experience and so much fun!!
What would be your most memorable moment as Miss Wyoming Teen USA?
Again, I can’t pinpoint just one! The appearances, trips to Minneapolis, people I met, it was all amazing!! And, definitely my crowning!! It was one that you only see in movies...you know when they crown the wrong girl! Yeah, that was me! Looking back it really makes me laugh! How about pageant power week spending time with my pageant sisters! Like the time we got our meals paid for in Minneapolis by the owner of DeMarcos, spending time with Sue, Melissa, Jason (R.I.P), Brenna, and Amanda laughing our butts off!! It was all great and I’m so glad I got to experience something so amazing!
What emotions were you going through when you gave away your title as Miss Wyoming Teen USA?
It was a little bittersweet. It’s exciting to crown someone new and let them see all the amazing things they get to experience. I loved every minute of being Miss Wyoming Teen USA 2006 but I was definitely ready to see what else the world had to offer!
Do you think you’ve made a difference during your reign as Miss Wyoming Teen USA?
I’d like to think so! I definitely tried to make a difference and I hope people feel I did. I just really tried to let people know that no matter what kind of background, or things they’ve been through it is possible to accomplish anything you want! You just have to set your mind to it and follow through! But, most of all be confident in who you are and be happy!!
Lastly, what have you been up to since you gave away your title?
Actually, a lot has happened since crowning my successor! I finished cosmetology school in Billings, MT, met my boyfriend, who I have a beautiful little girl with, Addisyn (Miss Teen USA 2026??), as well as started working in a salon! It’s been a busy couple of years, but some of the best!!
