Courtney Barnas Interview
Miss Arizona USA 2007
Why did you decide to compete in the Miss Arizona USA pageant?
After a not so successful try at Miss Arizona Teen USA in 2005, I swore I would never compete in the Arizona system again but after I was aware that a new director had taken over I thought I should give it a second chance. Britt Boyse has truly revamped the Miss Arizona USA system and I absolutely loved being a part of her production.
What would be the most memorable moment in the Miss Arizona USA pageant?
After the top 5 “final look” the crew pulled us back stage while the results were being tabulated. I remember a sense of calm run throughout my body. It was the most amazing feeling.
What are you currently pursuing in University?
After taking a semester off to train for Miss USA I finally realized what I wanted to do! I’m now waiting patiently to be accepted into the nursing program.
What emotions were you going through when you were giving away your title?
I wasn’t ready to give it up! I loved being Miss Arizona.
What would be your most memorable moment at the Miss USA pageant?
The laughs I shared with my roommate Rebecca (Miss Alabama). We had so much in common, we were like sisters!
Will you compete in another pageant in the future?
Possibly!! I have always loved competing; I’m just not sure what system would be for me!
Lastly, what have you been up to since your reign as Miss AZ USA ended?
I have been focused on school. Since I changed my major to nursing I had a lot of catching up to do.
