Ashley Coleman Interview
Miss Teen USA 1999
Why did you decide to compete in the Miss Delaware Teen USA pageant?
When I entered Miss DE Teen, it was a last minute decision. I think I signed up in Mid-September and the competition was in November. Honestly, I never had any real dream of winning a pageant. I just thought it would be something fun to do.
Why did you decide to compete in the Miss Delaware Teen USA pageant?
The Food and Friends… enough said!
What was going through your head when you were announced as the new Miss Teen USA?
At first, I thought Miss Louisiana was winning since she seemed to have home field advantage, but then my thoughts quickly changed to “No way… Delaware never wins… Oh wait, what did I just get myself into?”
What would be your most memorable moment as Miss Teen USA?
Wow… There were so many! I guess the two main things are the amazing young fans I met along the way and how they really seemed to care about my message; and secondly, the staff (Friends) at the Miss Universe Organization for creating such a memorable time!
What emotions were you going through when you gave away your title as Miss Delaware Teen USA?
I was a little sad at first, because it was only a couple of months after MTU… but then I remember Brian and Roston saying, “don’t forget you still have a whole year as Miss Teen USA!” So, I got over it, and focused on making sure I crowned the right girl!
Tell us about your experience on “The Price is Right”.
What another great experience!! PIR was so fun! The crew, producers, beauties, and of course, Bob Barker himself were amazing! Unforgettable!
Lastly, what have you been up to since your reign as Miss Teen USA ended?
Let’s see… How to sum up the past 10 years…
I lived in LA for almost 4 years where I was a model and actress, living the dream!
Then moved back to DE to live the family life! I am a wife and mother of two beautiful toddler girls. I work as a vehicle specialist for an automotive company and I still do a little acting and modeling on the side.
