Lindsey Jo Harrington Interview
Miss Oklahoma USA 2008 + 3rd runner up at Miss USA 2008
Why did you decide to participate in the Miss Oklahoma USA pageant?
I had always watched the Miss USA pageant on T.V. while growing up and I always secretly dreamed of representingOklahoma in the pageant. I had never watched Miss Oklahoma, but I decided that I should compete and learn about the system and then compete the following year, but much to my surprise I actually won the pageant that night.
What was going through your head when you were announced in the top 15, then in the top 10, then in the top 5 and when you were finally announced as the 3rd runner up at Miss USA?
When I was called into the Top15 I was actually crying, because I was so excited and proud of myself for making it that far. That was when I realized that I was fulfilling a dream that I had always had as a little girl. When I was called into the Top 10 I was extremely excited and I just could not believe that I had made it through the cut. Then when I made Top 5, I was so proud, because my goal going to Miss USA was to make the Top15, and I had exceeded way past my goal. I am still so proud and excited about the outcome of the pageant.
How was the overall experience at Miss USA?
I had a wonderful experience at Miss USA. I am a very shy person, so before I left for Las Vegas I promised myself that I would step out of my comfort zone and get to know all the girls and introduce myself no matter how shy I was feeling. I am proud to say that, that is exactly what I did while I was there. I met some amazing young women and some of us still keep in touch today!!
What have you been doing after Miss USA?
After Miss USA, I have been modeling for Sherri Hill. I have also been working and finishing up a summer course back in Oklahoma. I only have a year left so I am very excited to earn my degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
Who would be your favorite pageant winner and why?
I would have to say that my favorite pageant winner to date would have to be Jennifer Hawkins, because she is absolutely breathtakingly gorgeous!! I believe that she was wonder Miss Universe!
Who would be your role model and why?
My role model is actually my grandmother. She is a breast cancer survivor. In one word I would describe my grandmother as a fighter. She never once allowed herself to get down or sad while fighting cancer and going through therapy. She has always pushed me to be my very best in everything that I do!!
