Lauren Lundeen
Miss Oklahoma USA 2012 (top 10 @ Miss USA 2012)
Why did you decide to compete in the Miss Oklahoma USA pageant?
I did it because it was something that I had never done before and I wanted to try something new! I also was terrified of speaking in public so I wanted to challenge myself.
What was going through your head when you were called into the top 10 at Miss USA?
Gratefulness. I had no idea that I would make it that far and I was in such shock!
How long have you been dancing for and how did it start?
I have been dancing since I was 4 and it started when I took that first ballet class and did my first performance in the nutcracker. I knew from then on that I loved performing!
Why did you decide to do a double major in Modern Dance and Human Relations at the University of Oklahoma?
Well I realized that dance is a very difficult and not extremely reliable career, so having a HR degree would be a really smart thing to have. I also hope to one day partner with a non profit organization and teach dance to kids who can't afford it. I have a huge heart for children!
What would be your most memorable moment so far as Miss Oklahoma USA?
Wow, that is a hard question. I would say my most memorable moment would be the special olympics. I had the privilege of handing out the medals at the bowling ceremony and then after we had a country/western themed dance and it was such a joy to be around such enthusiastic and uplifting people! I feel like I got more out of being there!
Lastly, what will you be up to after your reign as Miss Oklahoma USA ends?
After I give up my crown in November of this year, I am going to be working on finishing school. I will still be involved in many of the organizations and charities that I got close to this past year and doing some modeling on the side.
