Brooke Fletcher
Miss Georgia Teen USA 2009 (1st runner up @ Miss Teen USA 2009)
Why did you decide to compete in the Miss Georgia Teen USA pageant?
I had done a few pageants growing up but I had never done a pageant as prestige as Miss Georgia Teen USA. The Miss Universe Organization has such a great reputation and has brought so many wonderful opportunities to the state and national winners. I thought that if I did the pageant it would not only be a fun experience, but it would also possibly bring some great opportunities if I won.
What was going through your head when you were announced as the 1st runner up at Miss Teen USA?
I'm not going to lie, it wasn't the greatest feeling in the world. There was so much going through my head at that moment but I do remember thinking, Is this really happening? This was something that me, Stormi, and 48 other girls wanted more than anything so it was tough getting that close and then falling just a little short. However, being first runner up at Teen USA is something that I am so incredibly grateful for and proud of! Stormi was not only my roommate but one of my great friends so I felt very blessed to be standing up there sharing that special moment with her. That moment is definitely something that I will never forget.
What would be your most memorable moment as Miss Georgia Teen USA?
I have so many fun memories from that weekend but being announced as the winner was one moment that I will always cherish! That was my first time doing Miss Georgia Teen USA so I had no expectations. I went into that weekend with the mindset of just being myself and whatever happens happens. When it came down to the final two and I was announced as the winner, I just couldn't believe it! The greatest part of that moment was looking in the audience and seeing all of my friends and family with the biggest smiles on their faces. They were and still are my greatest supporters and I couldn't have done it without them.
Will we see you compete in another pageant in the near future?
I enjoy competing and just being in pageants all together. I had such a great experience with Teen USA that competing in another pageant in the future is definitely a possibility!
How would a typical day go for you as a staff member for "Eagle Eye Television"?
We have different shows throughout the week that we have to prepare for days in advance. As the Entertainment Director, I usually find different entertainment news that is happening around Auburn's campus so I can get content for the various shows. I am also one of the hosts on our morning show, Wake Up Auburn, where I get to work with other EETV members. Broadcasting is a field that I would love to go into in the future, so being apart of Eagle Eye TV is something that I really enjoy.
Lastly, what have you been up to since your reign as Miss Georgia Teen USA ended?
Gosh, I feel like so much has happened since then. It's crazy to think that it has already been 3 years! Well, I'm currently a junior at Auburn University majoring in Business Marketing with a minor in Spanish. Since I've been here, I have joined a sorority, and along with Eagle Eye Television, I am also the Campus Ambassador for Study Breaks Magazine. Also, since I hope to be a broadcaster one day, this past summer I had the opportunity to live with my sister in Chicago and do an internship with WGN's Morning Show which was an awesome experience! I feel like there is so much more I can catch you up on but overall, I'm loving life and couldn't be any happier with where I am. I feel like I've grown a lot since Teen USA and I've learned that everything happens for a reason. God always has a plan and I'm excited to see what he has in store for me in the future.
