Bishara Dorre Interview
Miss Wisconsin Teen USA 2006
Miss Wisconsin's Outstanding Teen 2007
Why did you decide to compete in the Miss Wisconsin Teen USA pageant?
I decided to compete for Miss Wisconsin Teen USA because I thought it would be a good way to make new friends and network with a lot of different people. I also saw it as a way to gain more confidence and build character. I wanted to try something new, and at the time pageants were not something I was familiar with.
You were the first Teen titleholder from the MAO to cross over and win Wisconsin’s Outstanding Teen, why did you decide to cross over?
I decided to cross over so that I could widen my horizons. I think it’s really important to never limit yourself. I love the Miss USA system but I wanted to keep an open mind and see what else was out there. I saw it as a challenge and wanted to stay determined. I also valued the scholarships available through the Miss Wisconsin Outstanding Teen program.
What was going through your head when you were called into the top 10 at Miss America’s Outstanding Teen?
I was absolutely shocked and excited at the same time!!!! I was really proud of myself and happy that I reached the goal I set for myself! I was nervous at first that I didn’t hear correctly, and it took a minute for me to take it all in and realize what was going on! The best part was being called right after my room mate Miss Louisiana Mary Jane, and standing next to her. We both worked so hard and made it to the top ten together. It is a feeling I will never forget!
What would be your most memorable moment during your reign as Miss Wisconsin Teen USA?
Having the opportunity to go to Palm Springs and compete for Miss Teen USA. Perhaps the most memorable moment out my whole year was when I danced on the stage at nationals on national T.V. to High School Musical with Disney star Lucas Grabeel.
What emotions were you going through when you had to give up your title as Miss Wisconsin Teen USA?
I was really sad, but excited at the same time to crown the next girl. It was very emotional to give up my title, because I had a lot to reflect on. It made me feel good to think about all I had accomplished that year in my community.
Will you compete in another pageant in the future?
ABSOUTELY!! I’m not done yet. I have big plans for the future, and I am currently the National American Miss Teen 2008. After I give up this title I’m not sure what is next exactly but I plan to get involved in Miss USA and Miss America.
Lastly, what have you been up to since both reigns ended?
SCHOOL, SCHOOL, SCHOOL, and MORE SCHOOL!! Since both of my reigns have been up I used my scholarship money to start college. I currently attend Columbia College Chicago, and I major in Broadcast Journalism. I am also a professional NBA dancer now for the Milwaukee Bucks. It has been a fun year for me! I am very blessed and appreciative for all of the opportunities God has granted me.
