Ashley Fletcher Interview
Miss Delaware Teen USA 2005
Why did you decide to compete in the Miss Delaware Teen USA pageant?
I decided to compete in the preliminary pageant after I received a postcard in the mail which asked the question, "would you like to become the next Miss Delaware Teen USA!?". After several days of going back and forth on if I wanted to take the risk. I decided to put everything I had into the pageant. I promised myself I would BE ME and have a good time the whole weekend.
What was going through your head when you were announced as the new Miss Delaware Teen USA?
My goal was to get top fifteen, so once I was announced for the first cut I was so excited and couldn't stop smiling. Then, when I was announced for top 5 I was stunned. I actually walked off the stage with the rest of the contestants instead of staying on stage with the remaining five delegates.
What would be your most memorable moment at Miss Teen USA?
Representing my state in which I am so proud of!!!!! My name was not Ashley.. it was Delaware!!
How did you select your evening gown for Miss Teen USA? What did you look for in your eveningg own?
I actually put all of my trust in my director, Fred Wright for my evening gown dress. He had a look he was looking for. Fred and I had a very close relationship so I knew I could count on him to get me something that looked like me.
How would a typical day go during your reign as Miss Delaware Teen USA?
At the time I was a senior in high school so a typical day would be going to school during the day and night after school or after softball practice I would get ready to go to my apperances. On average I went to three apperances a week including weekends.
